The verdict“Two teams who both drew their openers met in Los Angeles and produced, fittingly, another draw nobody can build on.”
The Performance Review
Switzerland and Bosnia both arrived at SoFi Stadium fresh off opening 1-1 draws, and the football gods clearly have a sense of symmetry, because they served up another 1-1. Breel Embolo scored for Switzerland and was named Player of the Match, Jovo Lukić levelled for Bosnia off a Sead Kolašinac assist, and Group B stays a logjam where everyone is politely refusing to actually win.
It was competitive, tidy, and ultimately the kind of result that suits neither side. Embolo did Embolo things and earned his award, Bosnia proved they can trade blows with a seeded team, but two draws from two leaves both of them staring at a final group game they now simply have to win. Cagey is fine in a friendly. In a World Cup group it just postpones the panic.
Who Got Burned
Both of them, frankly. Two matches, two draws each, and a Group B table where nobody has taken charge. Switzerland are the higher seed and will feel these two dropped points more sharply, having now failed to beat either Qatar or Bosnia.
The Bright Side
Bosnia keep proving they belong, holding a Swiss side that fancied this as three points, and Kolašinac's craft set up a genuinely earned equaliser. They are very much alive, and a point against Switzerland is a point most people predicted they would not get.
