Wild

The Roast
“Wild is the most overused single word title in pop music. Spotify currently lists 2,400 plus tracks named Wild. The fact that Thomas added one more to the pile is either a confident creative bet or an SEO problem the metadata team will deal with later. The song itself is fine. It is more than fine, actually. It is one of the cleaner productions in the recent catalog and the chorus has the kind of rhythmic lift that the afropop direction is genuinely good at. Where it loses points is the writing. Wild as a thematic frame is a content-shaped hole. Every other indie pop song called Wild has done the same exercise of using the word to mean reckless, free, untamed, and youthful in roughly that order. Thomas does not break out of that pattern. He does perform it better than most. The vocal is committed. The arrangement is tasteful. The track will do well on dance-leaning playlists. It will not do anything to establish a distinct lyrical identity.”

The Bright Side
Wild is one of the cleanest productions in the recent catalog and the chorus genuinely lifts. The afropop direction suits this kind of rhythmic energy, and the vocal commitment carries it past the title cliche.
Hardest Sneer
“Naming a track Wild in 2026 is choosing to be findable by no one and discoverable by nobody. The algorithm will throw it onto playlists. The listener will not remember the name when it ends. That is a tradeoff Thomas has made consciously or accidentally.”
