First artist ever to hold the top three spots at once. Congratulations, I think, it is genuinely historic and also genuinely exhausting. Here is the trick everyone clocked. Three albums in one night is not generosity, it is math. You split what could have been one tight, lethal record into three diluted ones, padded the runtime with features from Future and 21 Savage to Sexyy Red, PartyNextDoor and Central Cee, and let the sheer volume do the charting for you. Iceman alone is 18 songs. Nobody needs 18 Drake songs in one sitting. Even Drake does not need 18 Drake songs. And the reviews said the quiet part out loud, lukewarm. When the headline is the chart record and not a single song, that tells you exactly where the energy went. You won the week. You did not win the replay.
Credit where it is due, the man is a machine and Iceman moved 463,000 units, the biggest hip-hop week of the year, on pure gravitational pull. When Drake locks into one mode and trims the fat he is still one of the most effortless hitmakers alive. The talent is in there, it is just buried under two extra albums of ballast.
