The Roast
“KATSEYE dropped Pinky Up the week before Coachella, which is either strategic genius or the single most transparent festival marketing move of the year. The track itself is actually good. The hook lands, the vocal trade-offs are tight, and there is a breakdown at 2:14 that would be the hook in any other group's song. The problem is that Pinky Up is designed by committee to work in six markets simultaneously, and you can hear every committee member in the mix.”

The Bright Side
The Coachella timing is working. The song has already charted in three territories where KATSEYE was not charting a month ago, which is the exact outcome HYBE was paying for. And Pinky Up is the first track where the group sounds like a group and not six solo artists sharing a budget.
Hardest Sneer
“The 'pinky up like royalty' hook is the kind of line that gets written, deleted, rewritten, approved by four A&R executives and a focus group, and then shipped as if it came from a human brain.”
