The Roast
“The All-American Rejects released a new album in 2026 and the surprising part is that it is good. Sandbox is the band's first studio record in 14 years, made after a year of viral house show concerts that reminded everyone they were one of the best pop rock bands of the 2000s. The songwriting is sharper than nostalgia required. Tyson Ritter's voice has the slight wear that gives the vulnerable songs more weight than they had in 2008. The album does not try to recapture the radio peaks of Move Along. Instead it sounds like a band that grew up, took 14 years off, and came back with the things they could not articulate at 23. There are two perfect singles here. There are also three deep cuts that are doing the most interesting work the band has ever done.”

The Bright Side
Sandbox is a legitimate return to form and possibly a creative peak. The band is operating with a confidence that only comes from no longer needing to prove anything to anyone.
Hardest Sneer
“A lesser band would have made an album about how their fans rediscovered them. The All-American Rejects had the discipline to make an album about the people they have become instead. That distinction is rarer than it should be.”
